In the name of God

the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

Why Myswocke?

Myswocke refers to the traditional natural toothbrush taken from the branches of the mustard (Salvadora Persica/Arak) tree (pictured in our logo).

Similar to how a toothbrush helps us to appreciate the most subtle of gifts - our breaths, the mission of Myswocke serves to bring beauty to every life’s breath.

Beauty. Durability. Functionality

We seek to provide you with masterfully crafted products you will use every day. Art is best when it is functional and beautiful. Just like the Shaker craftsmen who said they made chairs “as if an angel were to sit on it,”  we strive for excellence at every step.

Art is meant to be a part of life, not merely an artifact in a museum to be observed; it is meant to be used and to bring beauty into everyday ordinary moments. Whether you are picking up a book, jotting down a thought, putting on shoes, or the myriad other actions we find ourselves doing, we must be equipped with what is not only durable, but also with what is ethical and beautiful.

Myswocke is our way of sharing just that.

Our Ethical Commitments

Upliftment

Myswocke grew out of a search for meaningful relationships with master craftsmen and craftswomen who are committed to supporting their communities and bringing beauty into our world.

For example, meet Bilal our master bookbinder. About to be conscripted by the Syrian regime against his conscience, Bilal fled to Istanbul alone with only a bag on his shoulder. Not sure how to continue his college studies, he apprenticed under a master bookbinder for three years. He aspires to help rebuild his country one book at a time.

Help us support master craftsmen. We support Syrian refugees. Help us empower refugee children in Istanbul with educational resources to help them achieve their fullest potential.
