How did we choose our leather?

Myswocke items are crafted with a chrome-free vegetable tanned leather. Contrary to what people often think, no vegetables were hurt or used during the tanning process. The traditional process of vegetable tanning uses organic material and natural tannins derived from the barks, leaves and branches of trees and plants. This results in colors that are rich and deep in natural earthy tones such as browns, beiges, yellows and reds. Vegetable-tanned leather also has a distinctively sweet, woody fragrance that is normally associated with leather. Each piece made with this leather has unique shades and nuances, which are a mark of genuineness. The lack of consistency in color and tone is not a defect. Instead, it’s a characteristic of natural tanning processes.

It holds exceptional characteristics and the patina grows stronger with time, leaving every product beautifully unique. It can not really be compared to other materials. Not even other leathers such as chrome tanned leathers. It really is a material of its own.

Leather is a natural product from animal hides and therefore differs from hide to hide. Variations in the texture of the leather should not be considered a fault but inherent of the natural beauty and uniqueness of the leather. Leather will always have natural marking such as dents, scars, scratches, wrinkles or blemishes. These natural markings or irregularities should not be considered as a defect but rather indications of genuine leather.

LEATHER, MATERIALS AND COLORS

At Myswocke, we make every effort to ensure that the products are fairly described, that the product information is correct and that the colors and get up of our products are displayed as accurately as possible. Due to photographic lighting sources or differences in device screen settings, we are unable to guarantee that the color you will see on your screen will completely reflect the true color of the product ordered. Please also note that each product is crafted by a pair of human hands which means no two will be exactly the same. It also means that there might be small variations from the product image in terms of color, brush strokes, shading, etc.

Is there a guarantee?

Each Myswocke product carries a 1 year limited warranty.

This guarantee comes into effect from the date of purchase, as stated on the receipt. Any replacement of a Myswocke product under this warranty does not extend the warranty period. Date of original purchase is still valid.

This guarantee adds benefits which are additional to your rights as a consumer. In order for the warranty to be used in relation to replacements or repairs, Myswocke first needs to see your proof of purchase, i.e. the receipt you received upon purchase.

All Mywocke products are fully guaranteed against defects in materials or workmanship. The guarantee does not cover product damages that may have resulted from abnormal wear and tear, accidental damage caused by user, faults as a result of willful or negligent operation, or any other handling.

How should I take care of leather?

Generally, there is no need to treat the leather of our products in any way. However, you may want to remove any small stains or dust marks on your product with time and use. If so, very gently wipe the leather with a damp cloth. Let it dry flat. Never dry clean, bleach, iron, tumble dry or twist the leather product. Avoid any exposure to extreme heat and damp.

Furthermore, any small wrinkles, blemishes or subtle variations in color or veining are typical characteristics for full-grain vegetable tanned leather and should therefore not be considered as imperfections but rather something that makes each and every cover unique and personal. To preserve the original quality of the products, avoid exposure to extreme heat and damp. Apply oil or cream conditioner directly onto the leather, working it into the grain with your fingers. You can occasionally wax your leather products to keep them in top condition. We provide a limited warranty on our products, but not for any misuse such as incorrect treating of the product.
